Tango Buenos Aires offers a visual and emotional journey into the spirit that gave rise to one of Argentina’s most universal cultural expressions. Born in the Río de la Plata from the convergence of European, African and South American influences, the tango is explored here through a series of choreographed pieces that encompass its various facets, in an emotional journey through time and space.
Inspired by the Golden Age of the 1940s and 1950s, yet with an eye on its deepest roots, the production evokes the period when the genre reached its peak of artistic and popular expression. The production thus traces the extraordinary evolution of this dance: from the slums to the grand salons, from the ‘arrabal’ to the whole world, showing how the tango has taken shape as an intense blend of anger, desire, passion and hope.
Under the direction of the legendary Marcos Ayala, the show is structured as a series of independent scenes, a kaleidoscope in which movement becomes the central language for telling stories of passions, encounters and contrasts, in a visually dynamic, acrobatic and captivating performance.
The production offers an intense and intimate experience, capable of connecting with diverse audiences, in which tradition and a contemporary vision coexist in perfect balance. Tango Buenos Aires brings dance to the stage in its most vibrant form – a blend of music, movement and emotion – paying tribute to tango as a cultural identity, a living memory and an energy that continues to pulse within every step and embrace.
