SARA CALVANELLI - VIRGINIA SUTERA 'Ejadira'

SARA CALVANELLI – VIRGINIA SUTERA “Ejadira”

Two women musicians and composers at the centre of a project of improvisation and extemporaneous composition: a fluctuating interaction between violin, accordion, voices and live looping that crosses baroque and folk sounds and meets contemporary jazz, moving from lyrical moments to real dances.Sara Calvanelli and Virginia Sutera

Ranging from ancient songs to experimentation, from free improvisation to writing for theatre, dance and the image, Sara Calvanelli has always sought a personal and feminine dimension to the accordion. She has realised concerts and performances in more than ten countries around the world and numerous collaborations with international artists, regardless of genre, origin or language

.

Also interested in the encounter between music and the other arts, Virginia Sutera graduated from the Conservatory of Milan with a thesis dedicated to improvisation, delving into the figure of the English composer Cornelius Cardew in The Great Learning. He created the Tuscany Music Revolution project and also formed artistic partnerships with, among others, pianists Alberto Braida and Ermanno Novali.
