Thursday 12 Fabruary 2026, 6.00 p.m. | Sala Musica – Teatro Donizetti Around LISISTRATA The meeting is coordinated by Maria Grazia Panigada |
Lisistrata is based on a terribly serious and grave premise, something that has always afflicted humanity and seems to have always been unstoppable: war. Lisistrata itself seems to be written like a heroine of tragedy. So much for comedy!
An Athens where there are no more men, because they are all at the front. A world that is crumbling and meanwhile politicians and technocrats in Athens and Sparta who do not know, cannot, do not want to solve the situation.
Remind us?
The great comedy is always a provocation, a scandal that shakes consciences. It is the absurd that becomes a sign of rebellion, of other visions, perhaps unlikely but perhaps possible. Can the sex strike by women be a solution to stop the war? To relaunch life and love? Today more than yesterday, this hilarious and perfect comedy speaks to us. Its ancient call resounds powerfully: «Women of the world, unite! Why not give it a try? Maybe is the good time you will succeed!».
