Virgin Opera Club
Never been to the opera? Always wanted to check out a live opera show but figured it'd cost a fortune or bore you to tears? Not even sure what "opera" actually means? Never set foot in Bergamo's Teatro Donizetti?
This one's for you: Virgin Opera Club — an aperitivo, an irreverent chat led by Maria Teresa Galati, plus the chance to sneak into rehearsals and grab drinks with the cast and orchestra.
Virgin Opera Club is built for Millennials and Gen Z who want to dive into the world of opera in a direct, informal, no-pretense way. It's an invitation to discover musical theatre not as something distant or "difficult," but as something alive — full of stories, emotion, and real people.
The journey unfolds over two evenings, guiding the audience step by step into Gaetano Donizetti's Le convenienze ed inconvenienze teatrali.
FIRST EVENT
November 6, 2026
6:00 PM – Happy hour at the theatre
7:00 PM – The talk
8:15 PM – Open rehearsal
The evening takes place in the atmospheric Ridotto Gavazzeni, where guests kick things off with an informal aperitivo alongside the opera's cast and artistic team — a rare chance to meet, up close, the people working behind the scenes and the ones bringing the story to life on stage.
Next up: an open rehearsal, giving you a front-row seat to the creative process itself.
The heart of the night is a special talk designed to kill the fear factor and make opera accessible to everyone. Let yourself get swept up in the plot, uncover the behind-the-scenes secrets, and feel what the characters feel — but do it before you walk into the theatre. Because if there's one trick to falling for opera, it's this: get to know the characters and their stories before you ever meet them "live."
SECOND EVENT
November 12 – 5:00 PM
Preview of Le convenienze ed inconvenienze teatrali by Gaetano Donizetti
The journey wraps up with an exclusive Millennial & Gen Z preview screening of the opera — your chance to finally experience the show as a genuinely clued-in spectator.
