SIMONI:TEOLIS

The duo SIMONI:TEOLIS è one of the groups selected for 2025 by I-Jazz, the association of festivals of which Bergamo Jazz is part, as part of Nuova Generazione Jazz, a project dedicated to the promotion, in Italy and abroad, of new talents. The duo, in its original set-up of two wind instruments, was born in 2022, the year in which Lorenzo Simoni and Iacopo Teolis completed their studies at the national academy of Siena Jazz. By playing, exchanging ideas and spending time together both on and off stage, the two young musicians develop a strong friendship that manifests itself in their playing together. Hence the Openings album, which brings together a number of original compositions and some completely improvised tracks. The recognisable influences are many and varied: great composers such as Bach, Hindemith, Steve Reich and Igor Stravinsky, music from video games, contemporary musicians such as Ambrose Akinmusire, Perselì and Ben Wendel.
