Sara Serpa, with the guitar of fellow citizen André Matos and a voice that has already captured the ears of the most attentive contemporary jazz lovers arrives in Bergamo Jazz 2019. Born in Portugal, living in New York, where she moved to in 2008, she counts collaborations with, among others, John Zorn, Ran Blake, Greg Osby, Mark Turner, Tyshawn Sorey and flautist Nicole Mitchell. She is currently the leader of two trios, the first including cellist Erik Friedlander and saxophonist Ingrid Laubrock, the second with harpist Zeena Parkins and saxophonist Mark Turner. Both her voice and her music have already been published by labels such as Sunnyside, Clean Feed, Tzadik and Inner Circle Music. Established in 2005, the duo Sara Serpa and André Matos started from common origins, whose influence naturally blends with the moods of the most creative New York scene. They have recorded together two albums, Primavera (2014) and All The Dreams (2016), both well received by international critics.
