Prometheus

Prometheus investigates the profound meaning of Aeschylus’s work: it steals from Aeschylus the fire of his tragedy to give it to the audience. The directorial challenge, therefore, is to shape, although in the case of Prometheus it would be better to say “forge”, the bodies in such a way that they know how to express the tragic feeling. The direction by Gabriele Vacis – a creative path shared with all the actors – works, contextually, on words, physical actions, music and stage setting. Because words are not the only tool useful for evoking a feeling. Essential components in the expression of tragic sentiment are music, gesture and movement. If Aeschylus' tragedy delves into the roots of courage, the performance stages fear and the courage to face it. The rebellion against fear in the words of Aeschylus, which run through the bodies of the young actors on stage.
Prometheus è the archetype of knowledge, freed from the chains of superstition and ignorance. And he is the symbol of rebellion. He is a character that young people love, because he cannot contain his feelings and challenges established authority by crossing the fences of convention. In reality, they are contemporary. Actuality and contemporaneity, in fact, are not synonymous. Actuality; is in only one time: now. Contemporaneity; being able to encompass all times. And this is what Prometheus does.
