Bubikopf

Bubikopf è the name of the iconic hairstyle worn by all fashionable women at the time when German cabaret reached its zenith.
Bubi sings for pennies on the streets, but her great talent takes her straight from the street to the stage, thanks to Hullo; he è the leader of a cabaret company, trying to survive in very difficult times: the lives of its members (Hedwig the diva, Suse the prima donna, and Richard the composer), è threatened by the “Cani Sciolti” a reactionary armed group, in rapid and violent rise. Facing dangers and sacrifices, they arrive at the debut of a marvellous new show, their last great chance for the future: forgetting hunger, dangers and adversity, they feel alive in the glorious moments on stage.
Their lives are consecrated to art, but will they make it?
The direction of the show is by Neville Tranter, and an encounter with this great artist of Australian origin, who has been established and highly regarded on the international figure theatre scene for some forty years, led us to choose the technique of the foam rubber puppet, manipulated on sight. After extensive training with Neville Tranter, we were chosen by him as the first Italian company to collaborate with. The work that produced Bubikopf started in March 2019. Now finally concluded, we are pleased to present to the public this innovative and surprising production, in which the multiple communicative possibilities and the poetic magic of figure theatre find their maximum expression.

Neville Tranter è consecrated master of world figure theatre. At the end of the 1970s, he left Australia with his Stuffet Puppet Theatre group to settle in Holland, where he deepened his work with human-sized puppets manipulated by actors, in performances of powerful theatrical suggestion, and where he became a point of reference for European artists.
