Led by talented trumpet player Laura Jurd, Dinosaurs is one of the groups that best embodies the new British wave. Their debut album of 2016 Together, As One won five stars (the highest number of votes that is rarely awarded) in the “Guardian” reviews, earning them a nomination to the equally prestigious Mercury Prize, as well as opening the doors to important festivals such as the Dutch North Sea, the Norwegian in Molde and the Canadian one in Montreal. The much awaited next album, Wonder Trail, released in May 2018, saw the group sharpen its own sound, veering towards electronic acoustics, to the point that the definition ‘synth-pop meets jazz band’ was coined for the occasion. Folk influences, always present in their music, are merged into textures with a pronounced groove, beautifully veined with pop. The clear and articulated phrasing of Laura Jurd always stands out above everything else ,and over the Channel she is already considered more than a simple promise.
