The Donizetti Theatre is owned by the Town Council of Bergamo, which supervises its management through the Local Authority Arts and Entertainment Department.
Since the Theatre was built at the end of the XVII century, it has always been regarded for its opera productions and it is numbered among the best traditional opera Theatres.

Besides the opera season, the "Donizetti" hosts a remarkable and successful Drama Season and a number of shows which comprise an Operetta and Ballet season, the Festival Bergamo Jazz, concerts of modern singers, symphonic concerts and the prestigious Festival Pianistico Internazionale Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli di Brescia e Bergamo.

The high quality of each performance is assured by the collaboration of very experienced advisors and experts of the different theatrical genres.

At the same time an interesting number of cultural happenings enrich each show with seminars and teaching workshops, meetings with the artists and authors, the publishing of the "Quaderni dello spettacolo" and exhibitions
